Our Story
A Place Where Everyone Feels at Home
Our home has always been a place of welcome—a haven for friends, family, but also for those in need. Over the years, we’ve had the privilege of opening our doors to refugees from around the world—extraordinary people from Afghanistan, the Congo, Gaza, Albania, Rwanda, and beyond. Each one brought stories, resilience, and a reminder of the beauty of connection.
Our passion for community doesn’t stop there. We also founded the Congenital Anaemia Network, a charity dedicated to raising funds and awareness for patients living with congenital anaemias.
A Garden Party Tradition
Every year, our garden transforms into a gathering place for laughter, love, and purpose. Friends and family would come together for our fundraising garden parties, and we’d host special events for the patients as well.
But as you may know, British weather can be... unpredictable. Year after year, we found ourselves putting up tents “just in case,” which, as charming as it sounds, became a bit costly.
The Birth of the Treehouse
One day, we dreamed up something more permanent. A structure that could stand as a centerpiece for these gatherings, rain or shine. And so, our beloved treehouse was born.
But this wasn’t just a shelter from the rain—it became a playground for creativity. From tinkering with AI to creating magical props, the treehouse became a little slice of wonder nestled amongst the trees.
A Magical Stay
As our friends and patients visited, they began to ask if they could spend the night in the treehouse. There was something about the cozy charm of being surrounded by nature and a touch of magic that made it irresistible. Seeing how much joy it brought to them, we decided to open it up for others to experience.
When the Treehouse Went Viral
We took the next step and applied for planning permission to turn it into a rental. To our surprise, word spread quickly, and soon it became a sought-after escape. Best of all, it allowed us to raise more money for the charity as a portion of the profits now goes towards supporting the Congenital Anaemia Network—allowing us to continue our mission of care and connection.
Expanding the Magic
As the treehouse gained popularity, it sparked something in us: a desire to push the boundaries of what we could create. That’s how the Faun’s Hideaway was born. What was an abandoned storage room in the lower ground floor section of the house allowed us to fully immerse ourselves in storytelling, weaving together elements of magic, technology, and creativity to craft a truly enchanting experience. Every detail, from the beams sourced from C.S. Lewis’s church to the Generative AI talking mirror was designed to transport guests into a world of magic. It’s a place where imagination and playfulness thrive.
Sharing the Magic
Welcoming others into our space—whether refugees, patients, or holiday makers from around the UK and the world — has been one of the greatest joys of our lives. Each guest brings their own stories, and it’s an honour to share our home, our treehouse, and a little bit of the magic we’ve created.
We’d love to welcome you too, to share in the wonder, the warmth, and the heart of this special place.
Please help support our charity:
