Overview
The Oaks is a woodland retreat offering three unique and magical accommodations: Cedar Hollow (our treehouse), The Faun’s Hideaway (a stone-and-timber Narnia-inspired cottage), and The Beaver’s Den (a rustic converted shed). While we strive to welcome guests from all walks of life, the nature of our structures and the woodland setting presents some accessibility limitations.

We are committed to honest, clear communication about these features so that you can assess whether our accommodation suits your needs. Please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any specific accessibility questions—we’ll always do our best to help.

Cedar Hollow (Treehouse)
-
Cedar Hollow is unusually accessible for a treehouse, with a ramped entrance rather than stairs, making it more suitable for guests with limited mobility. This is because the treehouse is built on a slope so accessible from one side yet high in the trees on the other
-
Entrance is via a wide wooden decked ramp with handrails, leading directly to the front door (82cm wide).
-
The treehouse is on one level once inside; flooring is wood throughout.
-
Beds: 1 super king, 2 singles. (further two singles in the mezzanine via a steep ladder)
-
Shower room and toilet with standard fittings; Small step into shower cubicle.
-
Open-plan living/dining area with moveable furniture.
-
Two dining areas:
-
Indoor: Standard-height wooden table with four Chinese antique armchairs (seat height approx. 45cm).
-
Outdoor balcony: Furnished with rattan seating, including a loveseat and two large armchairs.
-
Lighting is a mix of pendant and spotlights, with ample natural light through large windows and glazed doors.
-
Outdoor deck has guard rails and is accessed via low-threshold patio doors.

The Faun’s Hideaway
-
Ground floor access via a single step (approx. 18cm) from grass path.
-
Door width: 82cm.
-
Open-plan layout with stone flooring and low-level beams.
-
Bedroom and lounge on ground floor; bathroom on same level with small step into shower.
-
Kitchenette is standard height.
-
Some flooring is uneven due to original stonework (salvaged from historic structures).
-
Lighting is ambient with task lamps and fairy lighting accents.
-
Light can be turned on by speaking to the Magic Mirror!

The Beaver’s Den
-
This is a rustic outbuilding with limited internal heating and insulation beyond an electric fire. We can provide an electric heating blanket if needed
-
Access is across grass and gravel, and down a small step (approx. 20cm). There is an alternative very large door making it accessible
-
Single-level layout inside; bed is 1 double bed.
-
There is no bathroom inside; guests use the shared pool-room bathroom approx. 40m away (woodchip and gravel path).
-
Outdoor hot tub is 2-person capacity, accessed via low wooden steps.
-
Not suitable for guests with mobility impairments.

Outdoor Areas
-
Most of the grounds are woodland with natural paths and steps.
-
Some areas (e.g. seating spaces, firepit zones) are on levelled stone or woodchip surfaces.
-
Lighting is soft and atmospheric in keeping with the woodland setting
